2. Consult suppliers

Competitive bidding for suppliers able to provide a solution adapted to the need is obvious and should be a systematic exercise.

It concerns two types of supplier:

  • the organization's recurring suppliers (qualified, evaluated and renewed);

  • potential new suppliers (not listed at this stage).

The technical and economic solutions proposed by these different suppliers should be studied; it is also advisable to examine them internally with the various departments or processes involved in supplying the purchased product (warehouse, quality control, production, etc.), taking into account the input data elements from step 1.

This examination can be formalized to ensure follow-up.
