7. Audit procedure and certification decision
This is followed by an on-site audit to assess the implementation and effectiveness of the management system.
At the end of the audit, the auditor presents his conclusions and recommendations concerning certification.
If non-conformities are detected, the company has a period of time, which varies according to the extent of the non-conformity, to submit corrections to the auditor. The auditor then rules on the acceptability of the proposed action, and informs the company of the need to verify the proposed action by means of an additional audit, or during the next follow-up audit.
A few days after the audit, a final audit report is submitted to the certification committee, which decides whether or not to award certification to the company.
