9. What happens when your business is finished?
Operators who cease operations must notify the Prefect at least three months beforehand, and restore the site to its original condition. This deadline is one month for a facility subject to declaration, unless it is part of a facility that includes at least one installation subject to authorization or, if it is part of a facility including at least one installation subject to registration, when the final shutdown also concerns one or more installations subject to registration. This period is extended to 6 months for waste storage facilities, carbon dioxide geological storage sites and quarries subject to authorization.
