3. Successful thermal heating of materials with ultrasound

Successful warm-up between two parts requires a number of approaches:

  • the final appearance of the welded parts;

  • nature of materials and shape of parts ;

  • the distance of the welding plane from the bottom of the sonotrode ;

  • the amount of energy stored by the sonotrode over time ;

  • machine design, part and sonotrode assembly;

  • the economic aspect;

  • the environment in terms of possible pollution.

Attention

Over time, the temperature of the sonotrode needs to be monitored. Any significant rise in temperature can harm, and even damage, the ultrasonic (US) welding generator....
