2. Build and surround yourself with the ideal project team

Building the best team with the right skills, knowledge and experience must be one of the project manager's first challenges.

Having the right people to build the best team is a key to getting the project off to a good start.

The project manager will meet with the heads of functions (engineering, planning, quality, finance, etc.) and define the project's needs in order to build a team that matches the resources in the budget. Based on proposals, a consensus is reached on potential candidates, and team members are selected. Once the team has been formed, the project manager will ensure that it functions properly and harmoniously to deliver the best possible results, and will be responsible for nurturing its members and taking the time to train them for the proper development of their respective careers.
