3. Asserting the project manager's role in the face of conflict
There are four possible approaches to conflict management:
solving the problem , after confrontation and analysis according to problem-solving processes with the parties concerned ;
compromise, i.e. the choice of a wait-and-see solution (palliative action which minimizes the importance of the conflict on the project);
Withdrawal: this position does not allow the project to benefit from conflict management (which is, once again, an opportunity for the project) and can lead to crisis and project paralysis;
forced entry: this approach leads to the group clinging to the positions that generated the conflict and hardening its position vis-à-vis the project manager and his relationship management.
