2. Decide who is the spokesperson (single channel) and train this person

Select a single spokesperson to manage a crisis, as several people may contradict each other.

This person must be competent and adequate to effectively manage communication with the press during a crisis.

2.1 How do you choose a spokesperson?

  • Choose someone who already has experience in crisis communications.

  • The spokesperson must be at ease with the media and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • The person must be familiar with the company's values.

  • The spokesperson must be available to respond quickly to press inquiries.
