9. Mistakes to avoid

9.1 Don't anticipate without a communication plan

Not having a crisis communications plan and neglecting to train spokespeople and teams could force you to react late without providing up-to-date information, give contradictory information and use uncoordinated messages.

Communication must not be one-way, with no dialogue or response to questions and concerns.

Providing too much information at once will make it difficult to understand the essential points.

Finally, lack of coordination between teams can create confusion.
