Schematically, research is a process that aims to produce new knowledge, by progressing through four structuring phases. The starting point is invariably a well-defined question, to which the knowledge accumulated to date provides incomplete answers; these gaps, identified in phase 1, guide the formulation of precise objectives, an intellectual approach, its programmatic declination (phase 2), then its operationalization, dynamically enslaved during the investigation phase (phase 3) towards the objective ; the original knowledge acquired is finally formalized and subjected to peer review (phase 4), giving it the added reliability of research findings.
