Classically, we distinguish between two modes of information distribution. As opposed to the "pull" mode, represented by a search initiated by the user himself, the "push" mode aims to present the user with relevant content without any action on his part.

The obvious use case for competitive intelligence is to present new content about competitors and their products and services on the home page of your intranet portal. To do this, you can take advantage of SharePoint's ability to target content by audience. This system enables SharePoint to display only the content most relevant to users, according to their interests or function.

Of course, this content could just as easily be distributed via a newsletter to involve remote users or those without direct access to the portal.
