2. How to characterize existing urban settlements?

Passenger transport by aerial cable first appeared at the end of the 19th century, and in urban environments, since these installations were linked to International Expositions, such as the one in Stockholm in 1897. But these were usually temporary installations that did not last beyond the event for which they were built. The first "perennial" example is the cable car in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), still in service today, providing access to the famous Sugar Loaf. Rather short in length (2 separate sections) and with a significant difference in altitude, it is the archetypal example of the relevance of teleport systems. The twentieth century also saw the emergence of other urban links, albeit very few in number compared with the facilities developed in the wake of the mountain tourism craze.
