4. Conclusion
The three chapters of this article have each described a category of methods: methods common to liquids and bulk solids, then methods for liquids, and finally methods specific to solids. For each method, qualitative and quantitative criteria are used to assess its suitability in terms of metrological performance (range, uncertainty), influence of medium characteristics (pressure, temperature, corrosion, clogging, viscosity), interface detection, accessibility, protection in potentially explosive environments, type of output signal, and price level. Finally, the last column gives additional information on specific features such as legal requirements, type of level measured, particular sensitivities and other specific advantages and disadvantages.
