8. Installation conditions and clogging problems

Choosing the right equipment for the right job is complicated by the variety of solutions on offer, and by the variety of problems posed. Many suppliers offer a range of solutions backed up by extensive experience. Easy access for adjustment and maintenance is one of the trickiest issues:

• intrusive equipment in direct contact with the product, with the risk of corrosion, clogging, temperature, pressure, etc., always poses problems if the system cannot be isolated during operation;

• several attractive systems involve a sensor suspended in the product by a cable, which can be easily reassembled. However, it is important to take into account the traction exerted by the friction of the material, especially bulk material, on the support during emptying and filling operations;
