16. Conclusion
The widespread use of ductile cast iron, which has now completely replaced grey cast iron for water networks since the late 1960s, and the many associated innovations (cement mortar lining, zinc alloy-based external coating, automatic joints, locking systems, coating solutions for demanding situations...) have enabled ductile cast iron systems to meet the new requirements of project owners and water companies alike.
Ductile iron pipe systems combine pipes, fittings, accessories and seals to create homogeneous, high-performance water transport, supply and distribution networks, with diameters ranging from 60 to 2,000 mm and in all operating conditions (pressure, soil and water conditions).
