5.1 Components: pipes, fittings, accessories and seals
There are four main types of components used in ductile iron pipe systems:
pipe: a ductile iron casting of uniform cross-section, straight axis, with socket, spigot or flange ends, except for socket-flanges, spigot-flanges and sleeves, which are classified as fittings;
fittings: ductile iron castings other than pipes, used for branching, changing direction or cross-section;
accessories: ductile iron casting or product other than a pipe or fitting, made of ductile iron or other material, intended for use in a pipeline, in particular a swivel flange, counterflange, bolt, locking ring, flange adapter, support collar......
