3. Buehler method: skin applications only (OECD test no. 406: skin sensitization)

3.1 Induction

Day 0 – treated group: one flank is hair-free (shorn short). The test patch must be completely soaked with test substance in a suitable vehicle (the choice of vehicle must be justified; liquid test substances can be applied undiluted if necessary). The test patch is applied to the test area and maintained in contact with the skin for 6 hours using an occlusive dressing or a cup and suitable dressing. A dry patch is applied to the flank of animals in the control group. The test patch must be occlusive, measuring approximately 4 to 6 cm 2 .

Days 6-8 and 13-15 – treated and control groups: between days 6 and 8 and again between days 13 and 15, the same application as on day 0 is applied to the same test...
