To remain competitive in the face of wire-drawing competition from Eastern Europe and Asia, wire-drawers have to act on two fronts, but also adapt.

The aim is to meet the demand for increased performance from drawn wires, whether for :
increase mechanical strength (without loss of ductility) in applications such as cables, springs, prestressing wire, etc., and for weight reduction or product reliability;
improve the corrosion resistance and appearance (color) of coatings deposited on wires;
remain competitive with substitute products such as staple wire, which faces stiff competition from increasingly high-performance adhesives.
