8. How valid are test results?

Irritation and corrosion tests must be carried out in accordance with international guidelines (OECD) and in laboratories working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP/GLP) and using standardized procedures (SOP) (see Principles of Industrial and Regulatory Toxicology [FIC 1169] ).

The "in vivo" skin irritation test is performed on albino rabbits, whose skin is not colored and is thinner than that of humans. In addition, chemical substances are applied under a semi-occlusive dressing that keeps the substance in close contact with the skin...
