9.1 Give preference to in vitro tests

In vitro" tests, which reduce animal suffering and the number of animals tested, are to be preferred. However, the quality of the information gathered in these tests will vary according to how you intend to use the results.

If only for classification and labeling in comparison with other substances, "in vitro" testing will satisfy both ethical and regulatory requirements.
