For process identification, the heyday of systematic standardization (cf. APQC process classification framework) seems to have passed.

The trend observed in a growing number of companies, starting with the largest, is a pragmatic hybridization combining the identification and definition of customized processes with standardized processes widely documented in the literature and reference IT applications.
