1. Understanding standard requirements

In the previous version of ISO 9001, that of 2008, internal communication activities were attached to management processes, and thus came under the authority and responsibility of management. This is why most of the requirements relating to this communication are specified in Chapter V (Management responsibility).

The evolution of ISO 9001 in 2015, and more generally the desire of the ISO standards body to facilitate the integration of management systems (quality, safety, environment, energy...) via the HLS (High Level Structure) structure, now allows identical chapter structuring based on PDCA methodology.

In fact, many of these management standards (in their pre-HLS versions) included communication requirements that were more present and directive, but also more scattered than ISO 9001 in its 2008 version.
