1. Traditional method: identifying operational skills

The input for identifying the skills required is the hierarchical breakdown of the project. The WBS (work breakdown structure) identifies the elementary tasks you want to follow within the project.

Each task corresponds to :

  • a lead time (see Estimating lead times [FIC 0936] );

  • a deliverable.

Each task is associated with a number of resources, each with a distinct set of responsibilities. This is done using a tool known as the "RACI" matrix.
