Sophie TOUBLANC: Project management consultant and trainer
INTRODUCTION
In the absence of a complete preliminary project, opportunity and feasibility studies describe existing processes and information systems, prepare for project governance, and help us understand the expectations of senior management. These studies are all the more necessary in today's uncertain and highly competitive environment, where the watchwords are "optimization", "mutualization", "responsiveness" and "return on investment". In fact, opportunity and feasibility studies, because they are based on recognized processes, quality techniques and "best practice rules", must also aim to improve the company's existing processes.
Opportunity and feasibility studies are normally based on common preliminary studies and their own organization. Their approaches and methods are different, as are their specific results. They are of common interest to the company, however, as they help to establish the link between project strategy and operational performance.
