Can I apply Lean methodologies to the continuous innovation process?

Yes, to deepen this approach, you can apply Lean methodologies, in particular for the targeting phase (Constrain) and the re-design phase (Amend). Value Stream Mapping and Six Sigma are particularly well-suited.

These methodologies will enable you to take a different angle in formalizing and solving your question. This can be particularly useful when you haven't succeeded in producing sufficient incremental innovation the first time around.
