3. Continue to think big, without seeking to optimize short-term gains
It's a classic: the temptation of short-term gain, even if it means diverting you from your markets at best, or worse, from your commitments. The structure that supervises and finances you may gradually lose patience, being itself in the short term. Even if it was understood at the outset that the gains would not be immediate, it doesn't take much for this understanding to disappear overnight. Beware of the following situations:
those that are exogenous to the new entity, such as a change of a key person in governance or a difficulty in the financing structure;
those that are specific to the new entity, and there are many of them, because any information that might suggest a delay – a technical difficulty, a contract that takes a long time to be signed, etc. – can be interpreted as synonymous with anxiety....
