7. Optical sorting by transmission vision: mirage
This technique exploits the transparent or translucent nature of the product, which may be packaged in transparent packaging.
The term "transparent" must be understood in relation to the light spectrum used (visible, IR, UV). The product is examined using a powerful transmission light source. The image of the product is compared by the computer with that of the stored reference product. Image analysis can be likened to that used for X-ray technology.
The applications are as follows:
detection of pits in candied fruit (cherries), control of eggs ;
bottle level detection ;
detection of foreign bodies in transparent packaging or products;
control of glass jars before filling.
