7. Sanctions

If an inspector finds that the conditions imposed on the operator have not been complied with, the prefect gives the operator formal notice to comply with these conditions within a specified time. On expiry of this time limit, the prefect may have the prescribed measures carried out ex officio (at the operator's expense). As a last resort, he may request that the operating permit for the facility in question be suspended until such time as it has been brought into compliance.

The following penalties apply:

• operating an installation subject to declaration without having made the required declaration;

• failure to take measures imposed without the opinion of the mayor or the competent departmental advisory committee, due to the urgency of the situation;
