1. Simplified diagnosis

1.1 Presentation of risk assessment methodology

The methodology developed here is a simplified risk assessment approach applied to landfills. It provides a score for each of the four potentially affected environments, reflecting the different types of pollution and nuisance, i.e. :

  • the groundwater environment ;

  • surface water environment ;

  • the human environment ;

  • the landscape and various natural environments.

The evaluation of the site by various criteria, weighted and combined, gives an overall score for each environment, characterizing the landfill's potential risk.
