Although the electric accumulator has become a commonplace item found on many familiar appliances, its use on industrial trucks can pose tricky problems for the manager. Manufacturers, now few in number due to European consolidation, have competent teams to analyze them, but knowledge of certain basic concepts is necessary to improve the efficiency of a fleet of equipment.
A storage battery is characterized by its voltage and capacity. Its voltage depends on the number of cells connected in series, while its capacity is that of each cell. It is determined by the number of plates connected in parallel, and by their dimensions.
