INTRODUCTION
Overhead cranes and gantry cranes are handling equipment mainly used in industry and in the distribution of manufactured materials.
An overhead crane (or gantry crane) is a handling and lifting device running on two parallel crane runways, whose gripping device (hook or other accessory) generally has three degrees of freedom along the three orthogonal axes.
Overhead travelling cranes completely free up floor space, as they are supported by the building or structure.
The gantry cranes neutralize two travel lanes on either side of the storage area, defined by the overall width of the running gear.
Cranes and gantry cranes can be used to handle a wide variety of loads, with the possible assistance of interchangeable accessories such as spreaders, tippers, rotators, forks, suction devices, etc.
