10.  Flytipping and illegal dumping

Increasingly, illegal waste dumps and pseudo-landfills are appearing on the French landscape. The French law on energy transition for green growth has introduced provisions to help combat these illegal practices more effectively. It should be remembered that, under French law, it is the mayor who has the power to police his or her municipality, and who is responsible for identifying breaches of the Environmental Code.
