12. Focus on the treatment of construction waste
Most waste from public works is mineral and inert (bricks, concrete, tiles and ceramics, glass, earth, stones and pebbles). Most of this waste comes from unpolluted sites and represents a potential source of raw materials for recycling.
Protecting the environment and boosting the competitiveness of the companies involved are the two main challenges of reusing materials. Indeed, the use of these materials saves exhaustible quarry resources and limits the associated environmental impact. It should also be noted that, when landfilled, this waste takes up land that could be put to better use.
