4. Waste transport
In order to transport quantities in excess of 500 kg of non-hazardous waste or 100 kg of hazardous waste, a declaration must be made to the prefecture; this is valid for five years. A duplicate must be kept in the vehicle used for transport. This duplicate (which must not be mislaid) must be produced in the event of an inspection by the authorities.
The transport of inert waste is not covered by this declaration.
Additional specifications apply to the transportation of hazardous waste. Indeed, transporting hazardous waste is a very delicate task. This is why the ADR, the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, applies.
