A study conducted by AFNOR in 2017 among 816 French companies reveals that non-quality costs remain little analyzed by manufacturers, as indicators are difficult to measure and the subject little discussed within companies.

Reducing non-quality costs is an important source of profitability for companies, but still too few know how to measure these costs, let alone take action to reduce them.

Over 90% of those surveyed recognize that non-quality costs are essential or necessary, and the majority believe that they represent 5% of their sales. But 20% don't know how to measure them.
