3. Measuring impact and consequences
We need to consider the impact of the crisis internally, particularly on human resources and work tools, and at the same time assess it externally, by measuring its direct impact on the human environment, ecosystems, real estate and infrastructures. As Professor Georges-Yves Kervern (founder of cindyniques, see Bibliography) was fond of saying, the correct term is not to manage the crisis, but to address it. And there are four main dimensions to addressing risk: prevention, acceptance, reduction and transfer.
These assessments raise two questions.
How does the crisis affect the organization or individuals?
What are the potential short- and long-term consequences? A crisis can affect not only a company's results, but also its reputation.
