INTRODUCTION
The principles of effectuation stem from the work of Saras Sarasvathy, who worked with Simon Herbert, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics. They describe what we might call the principles for developing an entrepreneurial approach.
If they apply perfectly to entrepreneurs, are they adapted to intrapreneurs? And how, in a company driven by causal logics, can an approach as antagonistic as an effectual approach be born, survive and even be cultivated?
For each of these principles, the sequel describes a few concrete examples of implementation within a traditional organization. It draws a parallel between the entrepreneur, with his freedom of manoeuvre – particularly in his choice of investors – and the intrapreneur, who is subject to the constraints of an investor-employer who is often unique and comes from a mature organization with little inclination to take risks.
