Managing the relationships

This relationship with others must be analyzed at several levels, each of which is subject to variation:

• at the family or work unit level, the goal is to enable activity without discomfort caused by proximity—whether acoustic, visual, or physical;

• at the level of the social unit, the goal is to foster a sense of belonging and rootedness through solidarity and a sense of belonging (mutual recognition);
