The nutritional virtues of coffee and its influence on health have long been the subject of often contradictory publications every year. It's not easy to find a convergence of irrefutable results for many of the – good or bad – properties attributed to coffee.
However, a few broad outlines do emerge. For a very long time, coffee, thanks to its caffeine content, has been considered a tonicardiac and a stimulant, even an excitant for some. But since the 1990s, some 30 years ago, American and Japanese studies have attributed preventive properties to coffee.
