Each method retains its particular advantages (and disadvantages), but it's clear from the sales figures for the various techniques that bonding is catching up with other assembly techniques in many industries.
Only a few heavy mechanical industries, such as transport and electrical engineering (for the manufacture of rail wagons, ocean liners or large alternators), remain faithful to traditional assemblies, although we now see the floors of TGV high-speed trains and the cross-Channel shuttle made with glued Alu-Nida aluminum sandwich panels [BM 7621].
