4. A reminder of the essential steps

Before embarking on any energy-saving action, it is advisable to take the following steps to gather all the information needed to gain a better understanding of the company's energy use and how to improve the situation:

• Establish the company's energy situation, with an actual balance sheet of energy and water consumption;

• analyze annual energy profile, energy supply contracts and energy stub;

• appoint an energy manager and understand the role of each individual in energy management (decision-maker, user, operator, etc.);

• implement energy metering and monitoring ;

• check the accuracy and reliability of energy and water meters;

• carry out measurement campaign(s), if necessary,...
