10. Motorization

Motorization accounts for two-thirds of industrial electricity consumption in France, as it is used in all kinds of applications: processes, pumping, ventilation, cold production, compressed air systems, grinding, tooling, agitation, lifting, handling...

The drive system is a chain consisting of a motor, a drive controller, a transmission and the driven equipment.

If we consider the overall cost of a motor, energy consumption accounts for 97% over its lifetime, with the remaining 3% representing the purchase cost.

This observation shows that the financial balance sheet will derive above all from the actions taken to reduce the motor's energy consumption throughout its life.
