21. Paper and cardboard

21.1 Field of application

This includes paper and paperboard, hereinafter referred to as paper, made from natural fibers based on unbleached or bleached cellulose, including recycled cellulose fibers obtained from recovered paper and paperboard to be recycled. Artificial regenerated cellulose fibers can also be used in blends with natural fibers. The paper can be white, unbleached, colored, or printed on the side not in contact with the food. In addition, the paper may contain synthetic fibers such as polyethylene fibers, and functional additives (e.g. adjuvants).
