4. Steel and stainless steel with organic coating

4.1 Field of application

This includes organically coated steel (as defined in NF EN 10 020 "Definitions and classifications of steel grades") and objects made exclusively of organically coated steel, which in their finished state are intended to come into direct contact with foodstuffs, products and beverages for human and animal consumption.

This does not apply to products and articles which are not intended, under normal conditions of use or other normally foreseeable situations, to come into contact with food products.

  • The main examples of coatings are: lacquers, varnishes, polymer films (PTFE, resins, silicones, etc.).
