15. Tin and tin alloys

15.1 Field of application

This includes tin or tin alloys and objects coated exclusively with tin or tin alloys, or partially tin-plated, which in their finished state are intended to come into direct contact with food products and are used repeatedly.

This does not apply to items covered by the "Steel for packaging with metal coating" and "Steel and stainless steel with metal coating (excluding packaging)" sheets.

The main application examples are as follows:

  • household items: measuring instruments, pottery, dishes, plates, etc. ;

  • food industry equipment, metal can closures, etc.
