5. Steel (excluding packaging)

5.1 Field of application

This applies to steel materials and objects (as defined in NF EN 10 020 "Definitions and classifications of steel grades") which, in their finished state, are intended to come into direct contact with foodstuffs, products and beverages for human and animal consumption.

This does not apply to items covered by the "Steel for packaging" and "Stainless steel" sheets.

The main application examples are as follows:

  • Household items: cake pans, bread pans, frying pans, cutlery, baking trays;

  • food industry equipment: silos and containers for dry foodstuffs (rice, etc.).
