2. Uncoated steel for packaging (black iron)

2.1 Field of application

This applies to steel materials and objects (as defined in NF EN 10020 "Definitions and classifications of steel grades") which, in their finished state, are intended to come into direct contact with foodstuffs, products and beverages for human and animal consumption.

This does not apply to items covered by the "Non-packaged steel" and "Stainless steel" sheets.

The main application examples are as follows:

  • Food packaging boxes (sugar, tea, cakes, chocolate, flour, pasta, etc.);

  • oil cans, barrels, drums, etc.
