Think in terms of value: "Is it worth the cost?

• Is the customer ready to pay for a particular solution or modification?

• What's the benefit of doing a certain action?

• What are the associated benefits?

Consider all possibilities:

• redefine or optimize the function ;

• look for another solution to realize the function ;

• group the function with another function ;

• have the function performed by a component with another function;

• reduce the cost of the component(s) providing the function.
