8.1 Don't be fooled

The causes of slippage can be as follows:

  • starting a project without having defined its scope or not having the project reference documents ;

  • start a project without taking into account the relevant stakeholders, their requirements and practices;

  • not to consider the management of the project's scope (and content) as a "separate" area of competence to be carried out until the project's completion;

  • fail to check and monitor changes and evolutions to the project scope that have been the subject of a change request and decision (approved or not), and those that sometimes occur without your knowledge;
