Jean-Pierre PAYRE: Senior project manager – Project management consultant, Grenoble, France
INTRODUCTION
The final phase of the project management process is its closure. The main benefit of this process is that it provides lessons learned, formal conclusions on the work carried out and feedback from the project team before resources are de-committed and allocated to new contracts.
This phase brings all the players together one last time to :
validate that all project activities and tasks have been completed;
obtain the customer's or client's acceptance of the project's product or service;
draw up a qualitative and financial assessment of the project;
evaluate results/objectives, success criteria ;
capitalize on the project's progress ;
provide feedback on the project for future teams and projects.
Because every project is unique, so is every closing meeting. To help you organize it, this sheet will remind you of a few points to remember in order to ensure a successful and rewarding project closing for future projects.
