7. Energy-saving incentives
To encourage energy savings, decision-makers (public or private) have a whole arsenal of measures at their disposal, divided into 5 categories.
7.1 Regulatory measures
The first of these is regulatory, with the introduction of obligations such as energy audits for companies meeting certain criteria, efficiency checks on industrial boilers above a certain power rating, quantified energy savings targets for energy suppliers based on energy-saving investments by users (the energy savings certificate system), and so on.
